My road to the world of straight razor shaving probably sounds familar.
It seemed like the only way I could get a close shave was from a brand new blade on my Shick Quattro. That ticked me off cause it was wasteful, both for the environment and my wallet.
Then one day, I ended up shooting the breeze with some buds at work, discussing our shared angst for the lack of decent electric shavers on the market. I went back to work and the idea rattled in my head, "Didn't people used to use straight razors?" The closest I ever came to one was my trademark sign for "you die", the ol' thumb across the throat with the pinky up in the air, to represent what I now know is called the scales, or handle. And so, as usual I fired up Wikipedia, did a search, and within 1 hour I had pulled up every major straight razor forum site I could find, including some vendors, and bam, I instantly contracted the bug. I was on my way.
